Woody Guthrie was a giant of Western American folk music, looming large in the American imagination for everyone from schoolchildren learning his songs to musicians radicalized by the message of his music.

It's probably not a surprise to hear that someone who wrote so passionately about equality, working people, and uniting for change experienced a number of difficulties in life to make him such a champion for the common people across the country.
